C&C Day #1 - part 1

On 19 dec 2006, the Christ & co church camp began. It was to be held at my church since the camp isnt combined with other churches, so we can save rental cost.

That morning, i did last minute packing, attended to my bean plants, then set off for church. I left an hour before meeting time to be there early. When i left, it was drizzling, so i quickened my steps. Halfway into my journey, it started getting heavier and heavier, so when i finally reached church, i was soaked through. I went to the aircon conference room to dry up before going to the auditorium for registration and gathering of campers.

We had to go to the 'registration counter' to mark attendance, confirm shirt size, then draw out a name from a bag. i jumbed it all up, and using intuition, tried to feel which name would be the best, then i was hurried by janelle to quicly get one... and that lucky person i drew to be my mortal was... DERRICK WONG

After most of the campers had arrived, the camp commitee ppl gave us a long boring round of briefings, and then our groups were revealed. I was to be the asst group leader of group Hammerhead. My brother being involved in groupings, i got to see the groupings a day earlier. And one glance at my group members, i alr knew its gonna be tough. I could consider it a challenge. though im quite fond of challenges, but not plain unfair challenges. There were last minute changes to the groupings, but it didnt make it much different.

Then it was time for icebreakers. Icebreakers had been always the same for every camp i went to... always the same few games like wacko, random questioning, or some other games rather similar to those 2. But this time it was very different icebreakers. I guess the gamemaster Jesse is really experienced n skilled at creating interesting games.
For icebreakers, 2 groups will combine together, and the scores will go to both groups. One of them was not really an icebreaker cos we dun get to noe each other thru that. Every group sent 3 people and the players would sit in a row. The gamemaster will then call out numbers between 1-4, and the corresponding number of poeple who r next in the line has to stand up n shout "yo!" Its a game of quickness, cos u gotta count fast how many more ppl before it comes to u. My combined group was had the least number of ppl who survived to the final 4.
In another, the groups would form a row. the last person will run up to reveal a part of a movie poster, and pass the message to the first in the row. then that will be passed down the row to the last person. After piecing the information together, we are supposed to guess the movie.
Next, 1 combined group stand in a line and the other 3 formed a horseshoe. both sides will roll a ball to each other and the person hit will go into action. the person from the line will name all the people in the line, while the person from the horseshoe will pass the ball to the front of the horseshoe and the ball will be passed to the end. see which group faster.
Another 1 is about observation. 1 group forms a line and let the other groups memorize who is there, then send 1 person to hide. the other 3 groups will send some ppl to find out who is the missing person.

Icebreakers took 2.5 hours and ended at 4.30.The next 1.5 hours is considered free time, for us to wash up, maybe play games and write messages to our mortal. I spent the time hanging around doing nothing much and writing a letter to my mortal. during that time i also recieved a letter and sweets from my angel. i wrote a return letter, trying to guess who is the angel. Later i saw derrick peeping at my return letter... so that got me suspicious. but could it be so coincidental that the same person i picked picked me also?
